Put the board on your own site with the widget
A launcher on your website or in your app opens the board in a side panel, with a count of new announcements. Create it under Settings, paste two script tags.
The widget is the board inside a panel that slides in from the side of your own page. Visitors read announcements, vote, suggest ideas and look at the roadmap without leaving your site, and a badge on the launcher tells them how many announcements they have not seen.
Create a widget
- Open SettingsWidget and click Create widget. A workspace can have several, each with its own look.
- Give it a name under Widget name and pick the Default view: the Home page of blocks, Announcements, Ideas, or the Suggest an idea form.
- Switch tabs on or off under Navigation tabs, drag them into order and rename them. A tab for a section that is off in SettingsSite Navigation cannot be switched on; hover its checkbox to see why.
- Shape the Home page: the blocks and their headings, the quick links, your social profiles and the rating sites you want reviews on. A link row without an address is not shown.
- Click Save, then open the Implementation tab and copy the snippet. It goes before the closing body tag of every page the launcher should appear on.
The launcher
The Launcher tab decides what visitors see on your page. Badge puts a counter inside an element of your own page, for example a “What's new?” link in your navigation. Button floats a round button in a corner. Side tab sticks a tab to the edge of the screen. None draws nothing, for teams who open the panel from their own button. The preview beside the form shows each change at once; tick Preview open state to see the panel too.
Colours and style
The Style tab has six preset palettes and four colours of your own. Picking a preset fills the colours; changing one makes the palette Custom. A dark card background turns the panel dark. Custom CSS is applied inside the panel after Kjerr's own styles, for the details the colours do not cover.
Who is signed in
Anyone can read the panel. To vote or post, a visitor needs an identity, as on the board. A board that signs people in through your product hands the panel the same token, so they arrive signed in; the developer documentation shows how. On other boards visitors sign in or create an account inside the panel.
