The free Productboard alternative.
No makers. One flat price.
Choose Kjerr, not Productboard. Replace a per-maker product-management suite with a free feedback board your users actually write on.
Productboard is a product-management platform with a portal attached. Kjerr is only the portal part, done properly: a public board, votes, one inbox and emails when it ships.
A free Productboard alternative: every feature, no credit card.
What we're opinionated about
A board, not a product-management system.
Productboard manages the whole path from strategy to delivery. Kjerr does the part your customers see, and stops there.
One job
Collect requests, let people vote, triage in one inbox, tell everyone when it ships. Kjerr publishes the list of what it leaves out, and means it.
Evidence beside every score
The internal roadmap scores ideas with RICE or your own factors, and keeps the votes, the companies and the MRR behind each idea next to the score. The decision stays with you.
No meter on your users
Voters, ideas, teammates and comments are unlimited. The price will be per workspace, so a popular board never costs more than a quiet one.
Nobody shouts into a void
A status change or a reply emails the author and every voter, under your name, with a one-click unsubscribe. Closing the loop is the product, not an add-on.
Feedback board
A free feedback board people actually use.
A public board at yourname.kjerr.io where customers post ideas, vote, comment and attach screenshots and files. Reading and searching need no account; the first post, vote or comment confirms an email once, or users arrive already signed in from your product.
- Duplicates caught mid-sentence. Similar ideas appear while someone types a title, with a vote button beside each.
- Merge that loses nothing. Votes de-duplicate, comments move and the old link redirects.
- A roadmap that follows your statuses. Under consideration, Planned, In Development, Shipped; rename, recolour and reorder them.
- 11 board languages, 15 themes. Each visitor can pick their own language, and ideas can be translated between them automatically.
How the feature request software works
- Someone asks. Short title, optional detail, up to 5 screenshots.
- Others vote. One click. Votes never send email.
- You triage in one screen. Unread first, keyboard shortcuts, replies, internal notes, private tags.
- Everyone hears back. A status change or a reply emails the author and every voter.
The concrete difference
Your users write on the board. They don't wait for a card.
On a Kjerr board anyone can post an idea, and it is public the moment it is posted: others find it, vote on it and comment. Similar ideas appear while the title is being typed, so the vote lands on the existing post instead of a duplicate.
Productboard's Product Portal works the other way round. Your team publishes cards; visitors rate their importance and can submit ideas of their own, which arrive in your workspace as feedback for a maker to process.
Kjerr
- Ideas are public as soon as they are posted
- Duplicate suggestions while typing
- Merge keeps votes, comments and the old URL
- Roadmap built from your statuses
Productboard
A portal of cards curated by your team. Visitor submissions arrive as feedback in the workspace rather than as public posts, and visitors validate their email first.
Productboard pricing vs Kjerr
Paying per maker buys a suite. You may only want the portal.
Productboard charges per maker: the product managers who own roadmaps and prioritization. Plus is $19 per maker a month billed annually ($25 monthly); Business is $59 ($75 monthly) with a two-maker minimum; Enterprise is a quote. Portal visitors and internal contributors are not billed, which is fair.
The catch for a team that mainly wants a feedback board is the cap, not the seat. Free and Plus both stop at 500 feedback notes, so unlimited feedback starts at Business: three makers is $177 a month billed annually. Portal single sign-on and the embedded portal also begin there.
That price is reasonable for what it buys: a feature hierarchy, objectives, several roadmaps, Jira and Azure DevOps sync, an AI agent. It is a lot to pay if the part you use is the page where customers vote.
Kjerr has no makers, no contributor limit and no feedback cap. It is free, with every feature, and any future paid plan will be one flat price per workspace. Both products are reasonable. They are built for different jobs.
Read it at the source: Productboard's own pricing page. Kjerr's is at kjerr.io/pricing.

Announcements
A changelog that reaches the people who asked.
Announcements are product update posts on the same board: categories, emoji reactions, comments, search by text and date, and an email subscription that is verified before the first send.
- Sent under your name. Emails go out as your workspace, with a one-click unsubscribe.
- Tied to the ideas. Moving an idea to Shipped already told its author and voters; the post tells everyone else.
- Crawlable. Plain HTML, and each board chooses whether search engines and AI crawlers may index it.

Portal sections
- Ideas. Post, vote, comment, search.
- Roadmap. Your statuses as columns.
- Announcements. What shipped, with reactions and comments.
Each section is a switch in settings.
An honest answer
When Productboard is the better fit
- You need one system for objectives, a feature hierarchy, release plans and several roadmaps.
- You prioritize with objectives, drivers and a customer importance score across a feature hierarchy.
- Feedback reaches you from Zendesk, Intercom, Gong, Slack and email, and must be linked to features.
- You need two-way sync with Jira or Azure DevOps, or Salesforce data on accounts.
- You want an AI agent to draft specs and synthesize feedback.
Both products are reasonable. Productboard is built for product organizations that run their whole process in one place; Kjerr is built for teams that want customers to be heard and answered.
And when it isn't
Choose Kjerr over Productboard if
- The portal is the part of Productboard you actually use.
- You want customers to post publicly and vote on each other's ideas.
- You do not want to count makers, contributors or feedback notes.
- You need single sign-on without moving to a higher plan.
- You would rather score ideas in one table than maintain a feature hierarchy.

Migration
How to switch from Productboard to Kjerr.
Every comparison page promises an easy migration. Ours is short because Kjerr stores little: ideas, votes, comments, statuses and the people behind them.
- Export from Productboard. Productboard exports features, feedback, companies and users as CSV on every plan; a maker or admin runs the export. Feedback that came from Slack, Zendesk or Intercom is exported without its text, so check those rows first.
- Send us the file. Create your Kjerr workspace (about a minute), then email the export. We map its columns to Kjerr's and load it into your board.
- Point your users at the new board. Statuses you used are matched to yours, the roadmap fills itself from them, and single sign-on can be switched on the same day.
The import keeps each idea's title, details, created date, vote count, status and author. Comments and the list of individual voters are not carried over; the vote count is. A changelog from AnnounceKit moves over with every post's text, category, publication date and pictures. There is no self-serve importer yet: a person at Kjerr converts the file and loads it, usually within a working day, and re-running it never duplicates a row. Write to hello@kjerr.io. Questions: hello@kjerr.io
Productboard alternative: questions, answered.
What is a lightweight alternative to Productboard?
Kjerr is a lightweight alternative to Productboard for teams that mainly want the customer-facing part: a public feedback board with voting, duplicate merging, a status roadmap, a changelog and emails that tell users when their request ships. It has no feature hierarchy, prioritization formulas, AI agent or per-maker pricing.
What is a maker in Productboard, and does Kjerr have an equivalent?
A maker is a paid Productboard seat: a product manager who creates roadmaps, prioritizes features and manages insights. Pricing is per maker per month. Kjerr has no equivalent. Team members are unlimited and have one of six roles, and the price will be per workspace.
Does Kjerr limit feedback the way Productboard's Free and Plus plans do?
No. Productboard's Free and Plus plans include 500 feedback notes; unlimited feedback starts at Business. Kjerr has no limit on ideas, votes, comments or members.
Is Kjerr's board the same thing as a Productboard Product Portal?
Not quite. A Product Portal shows cards your team has published, and visitor ideas arrive in your workspace as feedback. On Kjerr, customers post ideas that are public at once, others vote on them, and you change the status as work progresses.
Do I need something like Productboard Spark or AI credits?
No. AI in Kjerr is included: it suggests duplicate ideas for a teammate to approve, translates the board, sorts feedback into Insights that link to every idea they count, and proposes roadmap scores a teammate applies. AutoFlow, which reads recorded customer calls and suggests ideas, counts credits from a free monthly allowance; nothing is billed. If you use an AI assistant, Kjerr's read-only MCP server lets it read your ideas, votes and comments.
Can I move my Productboard data to Kjerr?
Yes. Export feedback and features from Productboard as CSV and email the file to us; we convert and load it. The import keeps each idea's title, details, created date, vote count, status and author. Comments and the list of individual voters are not carried over; the vote count is. A changelog from AnnounceKit moves over with every post's text, category, publication date and pictures.
What does Productboard have that Kjerr does not?
A feature hierarchy, objectives, multiple roadmaps, prioritization formulas, an AI agent, a custom portal domain, and integrations with Jira, Azure DevOps, Slack, Zendesk, Intercom and Salesforce. If you need those, Productboard is the better fit.
Does Kjerr integrate with Jira, Linear, Slack or Zapier?
Not natively. Kjerr connects to your own product instead: a REST API and signed webhooks, single sign-on with a signed JWT, an Identify API for company, plan and MRR, a JavaScript SDK, and a read-only MCP server for AI assistants. A webhook can post to Slack or open a ticket if you write that step; if a ready-made two-way sync with an issue tracker is essential, Kjerr is not the right tool.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. A board starts at yourname.kjerr.io; under Settings → Custom domain you can move it to an address like feedback.yourcompany.com with one CNAME record. HTTPS is set up for you, and the old address sends visitors to the new one.
Can I remove the Kjerr branding from my board?
Yes, on every workspace and at no cost. Settings has one switch for the “hosted by Kjerr” line and one for the “Create your own free idea board” chip. Emails are sent under your workspace name.
Is single sign-on included?
Yes, on every workspace. Your product signs an HS256 JWT and users arrive on the board logged in, carrying company, plan and MRR. See the SSO documentation.
Can people give feedback without an account?
Reading and searching need no account. The first post, vote or comment confirms an email address once; there is no password to create. With single sign-on, users skip that step as well.
How long does setup take?
About a minute: sign up, confirm your email, name the workspace, and the board is live. There is nothing to install.
Give it a weekend. It's free.
Free to use. Bring a Productboard CSV export and we load it for you.
