1Set up
Use your own domain
Move the board from yourname.kjerr.io to an address like feedback.yourcompany.com with one DNS record. HTTPS is set up for you.
Every board starts at an address on Kjerr. You can move it to an address on your company's domain, such as feedback.yourcompany.com. Visitors see your name in the address bar, and the old address keeps working: it sends them to the new one.
Connect the domain
- Open SettingsCustom domain, type the address you want, for example
feedback.yourcompany.com, and click Connect domain. - At the company that runs your DNS, add the record the page shows: type CNAME, the name before your domain (
feedback) in the Name field, anddomains.kjerr.ioas the value. Some providers want the full address in the Name field instead. - Remove any other A or AAAA records for the same name, so the CNAME is the only one.
- Come back to the page and leave it open. It checks the record every few seconds, and Check now checks at once.
What the page tells you
| State | What it means |
|---|---|
| Waiting for DNS | The record is missing or points somewhere else. The page says what it found. New records usually show up within minutes, sometimes up to an hour. |
| Securing with HTTPS | The record is right and a free certificate is being fetched. This usually takes under a minute. |
| Connected | The board answers on your domain over HTTPS. |
Once it is connected
- Links in emails to your customers, the search-engine address of every page and the widget snippet use your domain.
- The old address sends visitors to the new one, so links you shared before keep working.
- A widget already on your site keeps working; update its snippet from SettingsWidget when convenient.
- Single sign-on keeps working as it is. If your product checks where it sends people back to, allow your domain too.
Remove the domain
Remove domain puts the board back on its Kjerr address at once. Links that were sent with your domain stop working until you connect it again, so delete the DNS record only after that.
